The challenge
The elevation had accumulated surface staining, visually inconsistent brickwork and failed mortar joints. The intervention needed to improve presentation while retaining the character of the existing masonry.

Detailed case study
A front-elevation restoration that brought visual coherence back to historic brickwork through a carefully sequenced combination of cleaning, colour matching and repointing.
The elevation had accumulated surface staining, visually inconsistent brickwork and failed mortar joints. The intervention needed to improve presentation while retaining the character of the existing masonry.
The work was planned as a repair-led sequence: assess the existing fabric, clean the brickwork carefully, address areas requiring colour balancing, and repoint open joints with an appropriate finish. The objective was a coherent elevation rather than an over-restored appearance.
The completed elevation has a more consistent appearance, with repaired joints and carefully balanced brick tones that sit comfortably with the retained historic fabric.
